A rather unique gatlwiing took place in the \«eniblr Roouu last evening, wh?n the members oi the Fire Brigade * number of friend* assembled principally with the object of doing honour to Forenun Tubb and Fireman Holland,, two o£ iue oldest active iire,brfgade>meii in Xew Zealand. Craigie, who was present br requeit, was introduced by Captain CsunpbelL In a few words prior to uciaistiog Me»sr* Tubb and Holland with tokens of esteem, he expressed his pleasure at being present on *uch an occasion. He had known both tb« redpients as old and re*pected resident! of TiutttH, —Mr Holland sine® 1867 and Mr Tubb for 34 or 35 rears. He thought it was hi# duty »» the M*vor and a* representing liie Borough Council and people of Timartt to show and to take an interest in and to kerp in touch with the Fire Brigade,, becjilm? be looked upon them as baing one of the be»t volunteer bodies in any community.
