She landed about 50 tom> of general cargo, took a few empties, and tailed a few hours later for Thmedin. where t-lir-is to be overhauled. A ROUGH PASSAGE. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. August 27. The steamer Kaipara, which arrived from London this morning, reports very rough weather when running down the easting. Heavy seas. broke aboard, and one stove in the wheel-house aft. RUN FOP. SHELTER. NELSON. August 28. The schooner Maroro. thirty-eight days ont frcm. Newcastle to Wanganui with a cargo of 550 tons of coal, took shelter in Blind Bay last night. Almost throughout the voyage she met strong easterly winds, which occasionally veered io fair, but blew so hard that; the vessel was unable to make headway, being hove to in fair, and contrary winds alike. Some clays the vtesel drifted between thirty and forty miles out of her course. Big eeas were often encountered, and thongli she was often awash no damage whs done. For the past three or four days t-ha Maroro has b%en hovering about Cook Strait, waiting for a fair wind to make Wanganui ; but the winds continued contrary. Hence 6he ran into Blind Bay. A southwesterly is now blowing, and will be taken advantage of. She did not sight a single vessel across the Tasnum Sea, during the whole passnge of thirty-eight days.
