NEW FRENCH TALBOT MOTOR CAR. HE NEW 10-16 h.p. FRENCH j_ TALBOT, made in Paris by Mops. A. Cement, at his factory, employing 2000 mechanics, is designed to meet the demand-for a really high-class mediumsized car, at a price considerably below that of the beautifully made and wellknown London 15 h.p. Talbot cars- The special feature of the French Talbot is the extreme simplicity of the engine, in » fact it marks a distinct advance in engine I design. It fc manufactured by Mons. A. Clement, who is certainly the leading automobile engineer in Paris. As evidence of the remarkable efficiency and reliability of the new 10-16 French Talbot, we have just received news from Paris of the result of a series of reliability, speed, and fuel economy trials, officially conducted by the Automobile Club of France. • These trials were particularly severe and lasted over a period of 30 days, and the distance covered was 4000 kilometres (about 2500 miles). In these trials special stress was laid by the judges on such points as petrol consumption and wear of tyres, that is to say, the very points which directly interest motorists and intending purchasers of cars. The result of the trials was that the 10-16 l.p. French Talbot was awarded the first place and highest award among the 4-cylinder models. The petrol consumption over the 2500 miles was equal to one gallon to 29 miles. Mons. Clement, in designing the new French Talbot, gave special attention to tyre economy. The result of the trial under this head was most gratifying, as the tyres originally fitted were found to be in excellent condition at the completion of the trials.
