HUNTING.

MR P. WARELS'G'S.MEET. Yesterday, at 11.30 a.m. the homestead of Mr P. Wareing was the meeting-place of many housemen and vehicles of all. kinds well tilled, and several motor cait, the occasion being a hunt -with the hounds which had been taken, there overnight. lb was perfect weather, and the recollection of several good days' sport with the hounds at Mr Wareing's invitation on previous occasions, gladdened the heart and prompted hopeful anticipations of. a real good day with hounds. It so happened, however, that, although the feltl 3f.id several short runs over good country, the sport was a little disappointing on account of a p_uor scent. The absence of anything exciting in the way of a long run seemed, to be quite compensated for by the hospitable welcome extended to all by Mr. and Mrs. Wareing, who had provided lunch for the field apart from, hospitality dispensed at the homestead. One striking feature of the meet was tihat' prominent among the field were six sons of the bout, -.all. particularly well mpunted ; and particularly straight riders. In. the morning the hunting- was chiefly on Mi' Wareing's and Mr Tarrant's land, which was very heavy. Shortly before lunch some drier paddocks of Mr . Wareing"s were tried and bounds slowly worked out a line across '"Mr Woodhead's land, then across the road ""on to Mr Maze's farm. After lunch'there, ' were several short runs over Mr G. 'Ward's' and Mr Guild's farms, and finally across Mr ErisbyV farm.. .-' Afternoon tea at the homestead before; leaving' for home was, most acceptable, and very much appreciated.
