CHARLES SAUNDERS RECITAL
In another column we publish the programme for the above recital on Friday evening. It is literally a " feast of music.*' All tasters are catered for, and the result is sure to be a genuine treat. In the first part Mr Saunders sings; "Lend Me Your Aid," "The Enemy Said," and also joins Mrs Saunders in the ever-popular "Home to Our Mountains " duet- Mrs. Saunders sings " Come Sweet Morning." " A Land of Roses," and " Lascia ch'io pianga." In the second part the 3rSists sing alternatively, and ■the programme includes " The Irish Emigrant," "Darby and Joan," "My Pretty Jane." "Caller" Herrin," " The Death of Nelson," "Good-bye," "Sound an Alarm." —ln' the' rendering of this number no ' tenor in the world can approach Mr Saunders —concluding with the duet "Good Night." Tbat the, programme is a remarkable one is incontestible, and if patronised according to its merits the theatre should be full to overflowing. It will surely be years before the public
have another opportunity to hear so many old favourites sung by such high-class artists. Concerts such as these are not only enjoyable but have also considerable educative value, and everyone interested in vocal work should be present. The bos plan is tilling rapidly. A picture of the famous Handel festival at the Crystal Palace, published in a neat circular Mr .Saunders has issued, is attracting general attention. It. conveys a, capital idea of what an immense function it is. Mr Sauuders, Wat kin Mills, Kennerly Rumford, Albani, and Clara Butt were the soloists, and are tasily distinguishable. Copies of the circular .may be had on application at the various music shops, etc. A number of seats are already booked and a big house is sure to greet the talented company. VISIT POSTPONED.
