Inquiries made by Ihe Federal Government, indicate that the report that the French Governmenl}, has ~,;appointed a judicial officer in the New Hebrides under the new Franco-Britii-h convention is notwell founded. ' The French judicial officer hasbeen relieved of hK duties in New Caledonia and appointed to act in the New Hebrides, but the appointment is not made under the.new convention.
