A third victim has succumbed as a lesult of the ptomaine poisoning al St. Anne's. A TERRIBLE FALL. Per Press. Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 11. A serious accident occurred on Mr Harold Gardner's I'urau ittate yesterday afternoon. John Trigance, aged about 22, years, belonging to Limyood, was at work some two or three miles up the gully on the slopes of Mount Herbert. He was grubbing tussocks when the ground which was soaked by the recent heavy rain gave way, and lie fell over a cliff about 50 feet. The accident occurred about 2 o'clock. A doctor was summoned from Lyttelton, and( the injured mail was placed on a stretcher, located in a hut on the hillside, and with some- difficulty was" carried down the hill and taken dowu to the wharf on a sledge which had been brought up meanwhi.le. He was brought over; to Lyttelton in a" launch and taken to the casualty ward where he was found to be suffering from «>nc»6*ion of (lie brain and a. bad scalp wound. He was then unconscious, but recovered consciousness laUr. An inquest was held this morning touching the death of William Matthewi?, aged 73 rears, a. resident of Wellington street, Linwood, who drank some poisonous liniment in mistake.for an influenza cure mixture on Wednesday, .and died two days later from the effects of the poison. The jury returned a verdict that death was due to heart failure caused by the effects of poison token by mistake. FIND OF AN INFANT. j Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, J.ulv 11. At an early hour this morning the dead body of a, newly-born child was found wrapped in. sacks in a box in Nor Mi street, St. Albans. The police, it is stated, have ascertained who the parents are. An inquest will be held to-morrw. Mr Isaac Archer, aged 68, an old and respected resident of Waimate, dropped dead in his yard at 10.30 on Saturday morning. He had complained of a slight feeling of dizziness during the week. He leaves a grown-up family. An inquest , will not be necessary, the doctor being satisfied that death was duo to heart' disease. ;
