TIMARU CHAMPION STAKE
The- draw for the South Canterbury CouisioK Clubs Champion Stake took place at the Stone Ktablss yesterday afternoon in the presence of a large number of sporting enthusiast.-/ among whom were, visitors from various parts of the Dominion. A few final pavments were to be made but ;w> the owners were not present and no monev forthcoming the dog* named had to be scratched. The stake is valued at £l5O and fifty-three dogs aiv competing for it. The »ir<t and seend round will lv run t«dav no that dogs beaten in thr«e rounds will have on opportunity of entering tor the Supplementary Stake, which will be held tomorrow. To-day's coursing will cMiimnce at noon. The mating will extend ww three day.-- and in order that townspeople will have an opportunity of attending the Phimpton a special train will leave Timaru for the groundu at 1.10 p.m. to-morrow.
