More bodies of so-called Afghans, numbering several thousands, belonging to the Ningrahari and Shinwari tribes, have crossed the Kabul river and joined the Mohmands. The Ameer's authority which is shadowy in relation to them was notasserted and as the Mullah's inlluence is growing rapidly, mobilisation of the troops has been ordered.
LONDON, April 24
Reuter reports that the general opinion in Northern India is that the policy of withdrawal of pursuit in the case of the Zakka Khel is largely responsible for the present situation. Some of the frontier tribes imagine that Britain is afraid of offending the Ameer. The Earl of Minto, the Vicerov and Governor-General-of India, returns to Simla forthwith. .
