The win of the .Main School was. however, a. popular one. if one could judge from tha amount of cheering that fallowed then sticc.M), but perhaps the school had more partisans at the baths than the others had. Mr K. Grant was the principal comptroller of went.;, and he war; assisted by Mr H. Fraser as timekeeper, anil a number of schoolmasters and teaelieis. At the conclusion of tile sports Mr Grant presented the prizes, and in handing the .shield t.. Mr Dalglish, of the Main School, gave the boys a little homelv advice on the advantage of all learnin" to swim. and hoped they would continue to perfect! thenic&lvti'S in tliti art, and to encourage others to learn. To wind-up the afternoon's festivities the Timaru boys gave three- hearty cheers for the visitors from Geraldine* and 'lemuka, and all gave three more for Mr Grant.
