WAIMATE HOSPITAL.

The monthly nit' tii.g of the Waimate Hospital Trustee.- was held yesterday afternoon, Mr J. Sinclair prosiding. The surgeon's report stated that there w-cre 12 admissions during the moi'th, making twenty-five, treated; (en had been discharged, leaving fifteen in htspital. Outpatients had numbered eight, of whom two were- new.

The. matron reported the accounts owing by each patient discharged. A committee had met and recommended three peisons for appointment as probationers, and that the tent accommodation be increased. —Approved. A late nurse, who had become a, patient, wrote thanking the Trustees for foregoing the hospital charges. The Borough Council pressed a claim for £3 19b 2d for rates on borough reserves leased by the Trustees; one of the conditions of t he, tendering was that the successful tenderers should pay the rates. ".Hie Trustees had declined to pay on the ground that hospital lands were exempt from rates; and the Act was quoted in proof of this. Mr Sinillio suggested that tile rent ought to be increased to cover the, amount. The clerk elated that the Trustees formerly held the reserves at a. rental, and no rates were asked for. When last the sections were tendered for. tli" Trustev:-! put in a. tender at a olightly higher rental, and got them and no iat,.-i had been asked for till now. It was decided to rely upon the statutory exemption. The chairman reported that a tender for six mattresses received from Dun?din had been accepted, as cheaper than those from Christchurch and Tiniaru.

The town members were request-:'! to prepare, before next meeting, the estimates for the coming financial ye:i-. and tenders for supplies were order*' 1 to be called for

Acotints, amounting to £llO 15s Bd, were parsed for payment.
