Four hundred armed and masked men attacked the colony and imprisoned all the police and firemen*, burned several of the tobacco factories, fusilladed ,the -house..; of the dealers', and destroyed £50,000 worth of property. A party of pursuers exchanged shots but the marauders who are believed to be to-bacco-growers escaped. ' It is reported t'halfc the manager of the Imperial Tobacco.
