A DESPERATE STRUGGLE. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 8. A .remarkably bold attempt at robbery was made on the .ehow grounds this afternoon, by a muscular young fellow who walked up to a stand from which jewelleiy was being sold and suddenly made off with the cash-box. Detectives Cafeells and Fitzgerald saw him, and at once joined in the chase. After a steeplechase over tent ropes, they ran their quarry to earth, but men they h:id a desperate struggle before they had him securely handcuffed, and in the melee Detective Caesells was kicked both by the prisoner and some of the crowd. However, the officers -stuck to their man, and he was lodged in a cell, to hi charged in the morning with theft and assau—.
