A charge of drunkenne: s - prof erred against a, first offender who had been twice renuiutied for. medical treatment- was withdrawn 'on; -the application: of.. Sub-' Inspector Green, who said there was rca- 1 son to believe defendant's'-complaint -was not caused altogether by • drink. Another first offender charged with inebriaty said lie' had been to the Show arid had made" a-show? of himself. He was fined ss, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. PROHIBITION ORDERS. Two ordeis against I'imaru men were granted for twelve months. One . order was applied for by. a wife and the other bv a .son-in ; law. . BY-LAW CASES. M. Randrup did not appear on a charge of riding a motor cycle across the George and Stafford Streets crossing at an ex- , cessive speed. The chaige >was proved, and defendant was fined 10s and costs. Einil Bockaert,' for,driving a motor .car. after sunset without lights, wars fined. 10s and costs. ■'■'.■ ■ ' A police: OFFENCE.: James Dunn pleaded guilty to allowing eat.le to wander at large and graze upon the South Town Belt, but pleaded extenuating circumstances, saying; that, the road was more like a paddock, and' that the mere grazing of cattle on 'the road, was not a breach of the by-law/if cattle wei-e not allowed to wander. ,vA boy was in charge of his Green said' the charge was laid under the Police.
