The wharf labourers from .'to-day receive 2d per .hour ' advance ,in their overtime rates of pay. v - The Labour Council discussed and negatived a proposal to allow an international socialist delegate to speak. . The conference of coal-miners? and miners resulted in a, deadlock, and abruptly broke up. The owners intimated that "in the present condition of the coal trade it was impossible to., raise prices beyond 11b a, ton. They declined to advance the hewing rate to more than 4d, or- concede the other demands, !of the miners, who 'will meet to-morrow. and discuss the- Situation. Both sides, profess great firmness.
