Press Association-By Telegraph-Copyright LONDON, October 18. , A soldier obtained the late Mr Paul Kruger's great seal of the South African Republica from a Boer who was about to bury it. Th-s seal was to have been offered at: auction here to-dav. but the Colonial Office has taken it as" Crown property as a. result of the annexation of the Republic. DESECRATION OF HIS GRAVE. A PAINFUL SENSATION. . Received 4'p.m., October 20th. PRETORIA,: October 19. A pniriful sensation has been created in every section of Pretoria by the desecration of Mr .Kruger's ..grave. The bust was wrenched from the base and lay a yard distant. The tombstone of his grandchild in the plot was slightly damaged. . T.lie statue of an angel at the head of the grave was overturned; " The desecration is attributed to an attempt to steal the bust, and await a reward for its recovery. The bustproved to be heavier than, was anticipated.
