AN INFANT ASSAULTED.

Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 17. A young , man nemed Edward j Mut'ragh was diarged at the Police Court to-day with wounding a child with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The mother's story was that she was living apart from her husband. She had living with accused, and he was the father of the child. Accused threatened to murder her. She next saw him catching hold of the child. He lifted its dress and cut its leg with a razor. A doctor stated that on -examination he found a wound three inches long and about <m inch deep on the leg of the child. The further hearing of the ca.ve was adjourned till Friday.
