THE LONDON MARKETS. Press Aissociation-By Telegraph-Copyright LONDON, September 15. Frozen mutton — : Canterburj- medium, 4£d; other desei-iptions are unchanged. There is a brisker trade in rabbits, but price* are unaltered. New Zealand hemp is firmer; AugustOctober shipment, £3B per ton. Copra is steadier; South Sea shipments, £l9 10s. Cargoes of wheat have been sold at 33s to 39s 9d. Waihi shares, buyers £8 10s; sellers £8 12s 6d; Waihi Junction, buyers 36s 3d, sellers 38s 9d. " ■
Copper, on spot, £65 10s per ton; three months, £65 15s ; electrolytic copper, £74 10s. American copper , producers are pressing sales, and it is feared that electrolytic will shortly ba reduced" there to 15 cents per pound. The Amalgamation Company has announced that it will close its mines on Sundays in order to reduce the production to eight million tons. There i:i a general slump in copper shares. Tin, on spot, £l6O 10s per ton; three months, £159 lCs. Lead, £2O 5s per ton. Antimony, £lO 10s per ton. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The High Commissioner's cable message from London, dated September 14th, is as follows: ■ > ■
Mutton.—The market is very firm, with a better demand, and there are signs of improvement; Canterbury is quoted! at 4-id; North Island, 3-? d. Lamb—The market is very firm, and stocks on hand are light. There is a good demand for all lamb. Canterbury, s|d; other than Canterbury, s&d. Beef.—The market is quiet. Hindquarters, 7sd; foreqiiariers, 2fd^ Butter.—The market' is very firm, with an active demand for best quality at full prices. Trade throughout the country is good, and the consumption is large. Current quotations are- —Danish, 115s; Siberian, 97s ; Irish, 106s. Cheese—The market is firm, with an upward tendency. There is a fair local demand. Canadian manufacture, 61s for coloured, and 60s for white.
Hemp.—The market is quiet but firm, a better demand prevailing for OctoberDecember shipments. Good fair grade, £52 10s, fair grade, £29 10s. Fair current Manila, on spot, £34 10s., Cocksfoot seed.—The market is quiet. Bright, clean New Zealand seed, weighing 171bs to the bushel, is qiioted at 60s per cwt. Wool.—The market is firmer.
