The secretary reported that he had seen Mr TeschemaJier v.-ith regard to vhat- va.s done at the recent Conference on the subject of altering, the date for makirjg the sheep returns, and Mr Tescliemaker had replied that no recommendation vas made by the Conference, but the matter had been discussed.

Messrs C. M. Anderson, McKay Bros, and Webb and Keaipthorne vere elected new members. Messrs A. J.. Symons and G. Butler, junr., wrote resigning membership of the Association. ,' •

The Marine Band -wrote offering to play at the- .sho-\\ r on October 50th. and Slat.— On Mr Grant's suggestion the Marine' Band was engaged for this year, if terms could be arranged. The Levels County Council, in reply to a request that pipes be laid at the Show Grounds gates, considered that pipes would not be of much use, but the Council would supply a few loads of shingle.—Received, the Council to be thanked. Mr W. Seth Smith, jSgapara, wrote asking that prizes be offered for large black pigs at the show. Christchurch and Oamaru offered pries for this class and he believed sufficient entries could be secured here.—The wcietary had replied asking if Black Devons were* meant. If so, it was too late to do anything this year. .Several of those nominated as judges and class stewards wrote offering their services; and some said they were unable to act.

The appointment of judges and stewards for the Show was nest i>roceeded with, but, as yet, the list is not quite complete. The sub-committee appointed- to go into the question of holding a rough-riding competition, made the following recommendations : —That a rough-riding competition be held on the first day of the show; that competitors supply tlieir own horses ; that £1 per conipetitior be allowed for exp?nsws; that prizes of £lO and £3 be offered; tho.t competitors be allowed to use gear for the riding, but the judges to take this into consideration when making the awards. Mr Bassett asked if the rough-riding would be held in the ring while judging was in progress. Mi* Grant thought -the rough-riding would cost more than it was worth, but other members pointed out it- would encourage horse-breeding and riding. Mr H. Elworthy, as one of the sub-com-mittee, thought the competition should be given a- trial, and he suggested that the judge have power to withhold prizes, if the rough-riding did not- warrant any being given. A discussion took place on the advisability of dividing :the prizes into tJirce, but "it- was decided to oiler two prizes of £7 and £3. The recommendations a.s amended were adopted and Messrs J, S. Butherford a-nd C .jST. Orbell were appointed judges for the competition. The matter of arranging for the disposal of the privileges was left in the hands of the president nnd secretary. The- offer of the ." Timaru Herald" to print the cards for the show was accepted. Mr Irving brought tip the matter of with-holding the third prize in the carriage and thoroughbred horses classes when there wore not sufficient entries (as provided for in the schedule). Be thought when entrance money was paid no prizes should be withheld.—lb was decided "that the words in the schedule in sections 176 and 202 making, this provision be deleted. Mr Grant asked if all stallions, including pony stallions would be allotted horseboxes. Last year some of the horses had to remain in "the open.—The secretary .explained thai this was caused through the owners- removing their numbers from the boxes.

-Mr Irving suggested some improvements to tiny fences at the Hhow grounds. Some of tho boundaiy fences required repairs.— It was suggested erecting fences that would- keep people out. Tils' matter was left to the ground committee, as also was some painting required for the ring fence. Accounts amounting to £l2 lis were passed for payment, : and the meeting closed.

Mr ThomaK Sneddon, Family Grocer, Mornington, Bunedin, N.I-5., vritex regarding Chamberlain's Cough lkmedy : "My little: grandchild vas very bad villi croup, and vo had tried nearly overylliing ve ever heard of, but villi no result," We.
