AUCKLAND V. POVERTY BAY. Per Press Association. GISBORXE, September 11. 'J'jie match, Auckland v: Poverty Bay, was played tliis morning in fine- wea-tliei. Tlie match resulted in a win for the vi-i----tois by 14 points to 3. The game was more even than the scores indicate, and afforded some exciting exhibitions of play. In the first, spell Auckland scored 8 tothe local men's; three, and got two tri-.s in the second srpell. Magee, Wilson, iiooper,- and Hurray, each registered tries for the visitor," Magee- converting one try. The Aucklanders proceeded north by the Talune at mid-day. Two matches are to be played on the Athletic Grounds to-day, and should prove interesting one:;. The first match at- 2 p.m. is between teams representing the Port Guards and the City Rifles, ior whom Mr If. Walker will act as referee. The other match in to be fought out by the Hankers' and the Lawyers' teams.
