TANNERS ARK.
AN UNEASY FEELING. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 12. Tanner's "ark" left Sumner-on Tuesday week for Timaru, and since then the whereabouts of the party on board, which included Tanner himself, two Christchureh young men named S- Hudson'and C. Davi?, two from Wellington named J. Dean andf W. Wilson, and a new arrival from the Home Country' named Albert Edwards, who went as cook, are not known. It is understood that provisions for only three days were taken, and as the vessel has apparenty now been out for eight days, much anxiety is felt for the safety of the voyagers. When the "ark" left Sumner a fair wind was prevailing, which should have carried down to Timaru within twenty-four hours.
Felix Tanner, of "ark" fame is at present on his way to Timaru in Ark 111. He stilled from Redcliffes, Sumner, on June 4th for Timaru, in Iris barrel boat, in which he intends to make an attempt to circumnavigate the globe. The "ark" is a barrel, 16 feet in length, with- stem- and stern built on. in order to make the craft navigable, and is ketch-rigged. It is now nine davs out from Sumner, and ag far as can be ascertained has not besn sighted by anv of th«: coasters. Tanner has a crew of thre> men. and is accompanied en the trip to Timaru by two ethers, who have joined him for the"novelty of the voyage. During the latter end of the Exhibition .season the barrel-boat was *:chibiWl in Christchurch, and on arrival at Timaru it will be brought ashore and shown here. Owing to the calm "weather which has prevailed for some time past, it is uncertain when the ark may be expected to reach Timaru.
