SUCCESSFUL ACTION FOR FRAUD. Press Association-By Telegraph-Copyright LONDON, June 11. A Spanish lady, a .resident of Paris, named De Bristegin,, has obtained judgment against Frank La Croix Gardner, a company promoter, lately in London, for £827,000. Sir Edward Carson, counsel for the plaintiff, stated that plaintiff's secretary and defendant conspired gradually to "procure plaintiff's money on . the pretence of investing it on the basis of the division of profits between herself and Gardner. She advanced Gardner £225,359 in cash, also £577,078 worth of securities. It was' alleged that defendant entered smaller sums than he received from - plaintiff, and also drew dividends belonging to her, making a total of £983,758. She received nothing in return. Mr Rufus Isaacs stated that his client, the defendant, had .not appeared, ' and 'as he was unable to call him as a witness, he consented to judgment, which "Mr Justice Channell entered for plaintiff. with costs. WHAT FRANCE REQUIRES. Received 10 p.m., June 12th. v LONDON, June 12.. To enforce the Da' Bristagin judgment, France, where Gardner was domiciled, will require the payment of £75,000 to the French Government which was an ad valorem scale in such.matters.
