AN UNSAFE BRIDGE
STARTLING CARRIAGE ACCIDENT

Renter states that while crossing a little bridge in the grounds of the Petit Treason, Versailles, the horses : attached to the Quefen of Norway's' and Madame Falliere's carriage" became frightened. One horse was caught by the leg in the paling-bridge, and swerving fell into the lake, carrying the postillion. The horse broke its leg and had to be shot; the man escaped unhurt-. The '"' Chronicle " and the " Daily Mail" state that three horses fell into the lake, nearly dragging the carriage with them. General 'Michael,- who was in the carriage, lifted the ladies out and carried them out of danger. King Haakon and 51. Fallieres, who had crossed the bridge first hastened back- '
