TWO SERIOUS CHARGES.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 27. Henry Peacock, an engraver, was to-day committed to the Suprefne Court for trial on a charge of having committed a criminal offence against his seventeen-year old daughter. Counsel for accused asked for bail. 'He stated that the next criminal session did not come on until August, and ft would be a hardship on accused to remain in custody until then. The police opposed the application, alleging that it would be dangerous for accused to be at large, a? he had threatened to shoot his daughter if she told her mother about his conduct. The Court refused the application. Accused was then charged. with having in his possession on May 21sb two moulds intended to make a resemblance of both sides of half sovereigns, and half crowns respectively. A remand was granted until Fi-idav.
