A case wherein the question as to what constairutes a public place came ..before the Court here to-day. ~ 'Two men ' were charged with disorderly conduct in the main passage of a hotel. ■ '. Counsel held that a public place was a public bar. Tho definition of public place, was controlled by the words "as of right,", only persons seeking accommodation or refreshment had a right in a passage. ■lf the main passage of a hotel was a public • place, tho whole hotel was.. The Bench held the contention to be a good-one, and dismissed the information, holding that an offence if any had .not been committed in a public place. A LICENSE ENDOBS.ED. ' Wellington Mar 27. Akx.
