Two miners, .Thompson and Robinson, were working in. a shaft at the Adelaide reef mine, when the driver failing to receive the signal .to hoist the cage, examined the shaft, and found that, the cage had stuck, and that there was 150 feet of water in the shaft. It -is. believed that the shaft was sunk close to an old. drive from which an inrush of water drowned the two men before they had time to give the signal to haul up. Per Press Association. Leslie Keswick, aged 17. years was expennenting with an acetylene generator at Hornby this afternoon when it 'suddenly 1 exploded and a portion struck him on the head fracturing his skull and inflicting other injuries from which he died.

An accident, which was probably indirectly due to a cloudy-moonlight nigh , occurred near the railway station lastevening shortly after the departure of the second express. An* elderly man was crossing the road, and in the darkness was knocked down and, run over by a cab. Dr Unwin was sent for and found that the man was - not seriously, hurt, being more frightened than hurt:
