COACH HELD UP.

ATTEMPTED DROBBERY. Per Press Association. NELSON. May 7. Wm. Hewilt. driver of the WakapuakaNelson coach, was going out to the Glen on Friday evening at, 6 o'clock, and when near Ledgers, a tall well-dressed man hailed him, and got on the box seat. Hewitt says lie noticed, that the man attempted to rob the money bag, and immediately on this discovery the man struck Hewitt on the. face, and jumped og the coach. Hewitt, who is a stalwart Irishman, savs he stopped the horses, and followed the man. Thev had a severe fight, and he left the man much mauled on tho- road. The matter was reported to the polic?, and the man was seen cominsr into town the same night. Hewitt proceeded to Wakapunka and did not le port there till next day, but it is 'jup posed the man is still in town.
