Accused was arunic,. in his trap, and he had a young girl witu him who was also drunk, and the two were in such a state, that the police were telephoned for. . DRUNKENNESS. \ The young woman, a first offender, who was with the last- acevsed, was charged with being drunk, but did notappear.-^ A witness gave evidence that he had seen accused in a very drunken state on.the road, and a fine of 20s was imposed. PROHIBITION ORDERS. Ihe police then applied for the issue of prohibition orders against the same young woman, and also against her mother. Both applications were granted, the orders to be for twelve months. A prohibition order for twelve months was issued against a Timaru resident on ths application of his mother.'. BOARDING A MOVING TRAIN. , A. T. Guy was charged with boarding a train while it was in motion. Accused did not appear, but was represented by her father, who .said tbat his daughter admitted the offence. She was late for the train, and having made an arrangement with a friend whom she was anxious not to disappoint, she got on to the train after it had started. Sub-Inspector Green said it was a wonder a serious accident had not happened, and the practice of getting on to moving trains .should be stopped. ° Bench imposed a fine of 10s without COS^R. W. G. Hosie pleaded guilty to a charge of leaving a vehicle unattended, within the borough, and was fine-l. 5:-\ G. Chapman, who did not appear, was charged with ridine a bicycle without a light at night. Defendant left a note admitting the offence, and saying that he was unable to nppnar at court. He was fined sf. anrl rostv 7s. John McCann, similarly charged, was fined ss. with costs 7s. J.
