Vicker*., Maxim and Co. have invented a system of driving warships by gas, obviating the use of funnels and thus giving an all-round fire. NEW YORK, March- 22. ■ Sir Nixon, 'an American marine architect, has patented an engine worked by petroleum gas. He claims that it will enable a vessel to. cross the Atlantic in four days. "
