CRICKET
MATCHES AT CIIIUSTCHURCH. Per Press Association. ; CHRISTTCHUKCH, March 16. The last round in the first grade cricket competition commenced this afternoon when the weather was dull and showery. Riccarton playing against St. Albans made 257 for seven wickets (A. Anthony, rati mil, 97. F. C. Fryer, not out, 78). In the match Linwood v. Sydenham, the former made 169 in the first innings (J. Wheatley 60), Sydenham replying with 69 tor four wicket's. West Christeluirch, playing against East Christchurch. made 258 for nine wickets (C. F. D. Cooks 100, H. B. Witta 66). In (he second grade match between the High School and St. Albans, Crawshaw, for the former, scored 212 (not out), a,, record for the school. The Marist Brothers cricket team, who won the schools' competition Uiis year, won it also last. year. The shield pre■senfed for schools' cricket, has'been current three years, and' the Marists competed for ii- twice.
