Piet Ferrier-a, leader- of the'late Cape raid, and four other- participants, have been sentenced to death at Kimberley. Two of them, Potgeiter and Reteif, were recommended to mercy. They alleged that a German captain named Siebert induced them' to cross the" frontier and create a diversion-for Germany's benefit. They received £250 for doing so. Captain Sie- .
