LAND VALUATIONS.
The Valuer General, Mr G. F. C. Campbell, has furnished to the Wellington Press some interesting figures regarding the increase .in the Government valuations of land indecent years. The following table shows the remarkable increase in total valuations from 1878 to 1906.
The largest share of the increase of 96 mfllic-hs between 1891 and 1906 was made in the North Island, 67 millions there, an increase of 111.per, cent. and. 29.millions in the South. Island; -an mcreas&-of : 44£ per cent. In both islands: 61; millions were 1 added to the land values- and, 35 millioris to improvements. In 1891; counties were valued (capital) at 86-: millions and per. oenfe)sand: the boroughs: to 74| millions (nearly 104 i per cent).- ;
