LONDON, November 28. V At the wool sales 9942 bales were cata,'-' logued, mostly Australian new clip. There was a crowded attendance of buyers from aE parts. Compared with the September closing rates best merinos .were fully 10 per cent, higher, medium faulty 5 per cent., and crossbreds (rubbishy selection) 10 per cent, higher. The American buyers took all the best merinos. SYDNEY, November 28. At the wool sales. to-day the tone of the market was distinctly firmer all round, with occasional irregularities. ' Scoureds particularly were in strong demand. THE WOOL SALES. The National Mortgage and Agency* Company of New Zealand, Limited, have the following cable from their London office, re the London wool sales, sixth series, which opened yesterday—"The sales opened at an average advance of 7£ per cent, for all descriptions merino, there being a strong American, demand, and;; at ah average 'advance "of 10 per cent.,'for all descriptions crossbreds." So far hardly any crossbreds have been offered, but prices generally are on the average 5 to 10 per x:ent. higher than the closing rates of last series. There is a general disposition to buy and American buyers aje operating^rreely. The New, Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the. following cable jnessage from London in regard to the wool sales, which opened there on Tuesday:—" Market opened strong for all sorts of wool; spirited" competition; good American demand. As compared with last sales closing rates ; prices are about 10 per cent, higher for greasy merino super, coarse crossbred slipe, coarse scoured crossbred; about 5 per cent, for merino medium and inferior, medium crossbred ',slipe, fine crossbred slipe, fine scoured crossbred, medium scoured crossbred. Supplies of greasy crossbred were insufficient to test the market."

PROPERTIES ON OFFER. A.t Temuka on Tuesday several farm , .properties' were offered: —Mr Aitken's pro- : perty at Winchester, was .the first,.sub-, mitted, and for the homestead block of 1439 acres, the bidding began at £ls, and went by 10s advances to £l9 10s, at which price it was passed in. The whole farm of 810 acres was then submitted, including the homestead block, and only one bid of £2O was given for this at which it was ;passed. The next property was that of the late Mr Inwood of -Winchester, which consists of 202 acres:' Bidding started at £l2 10s and- bids rose to £2O 15s at which was passed to Mr W. Evans: The grain store at Wmchester was next submitted and beginning at £3OO it ran tb'!£soOat which figure it- passed to Mr J. Connolly.
