No further movement is noticeable at Shepherd's Hill, Newcastle. The subsidiary reservoir, which was emptied, is so badly damaged that it is probable that* it will be unfit for further use. A weak spot has been 'discovered in the Seapit mine, and men and horses have been withdrawn. ' THE IMPERIAL CONFERENCE. Mr Seddon has received a cable message from the Colonial Office in reply to his query whether fiscal matters would be discussed by the Imperial Conference, stating that any fiscal matters brought before the Conference by delegates would- receive consideration. The .cable definitely fixes the date of the meeting for April 15th, 1907. WEST AUSTRALIAN ELECTIONS. PERTH, May 17. AH the new Ministers, except the Prime Minister, and the Minister for Works, have been returned unopposed. AN EXTRADITION CASE. An application has been made to the Full Court for a writ of habeas corpus in the case of William Maxwell, who is awaiting extradition to New Zealand. Objection was raised on behalf of tie Crown that the rule nisi must be discharged as an established precedent supporting the application, by putting in a eopy of the warrant of commitment, had not been complied with. The Court upheld the objection, and discharged the rule. DISCOVERY OF ASPHALTUM. The Minister of Mines has received a report of a discovery of asphaltum of excellent quality in Albany "Harbour.
