The president icead. a letter from tie Ashburton Association asking for a . conference with a view to arranging dates, their iisual dates clashing with the dates the Lhristchurch Exhibition. ■ Mr R. Christchurch and their wishes should not be ignored. If they were ignored h'e "hoped those who were responsible would accept the responsibility if the show proved a failure. He was himself altogether in favour of an autumn show, bnt would "bo satisfied this year to have the show put after Christchurch. He moved that it be a recommendation -to the incoming committee to shift the show to some date after Christchurch. Mr Rhodes protested against this proposal as it- must clash with Waimate. H e asked whether the motion was in order, as it was opposed to a rule, and opposed to a motion previously carried. The president had refused to accept an amendment before the motion was put, and now it was -proposed to amend it- after it; had been put. He had voted against giving the committee full power,' but would faave voted to give power to change'by a week or so. Mr Bain said the committee had been discussing an autumn show favourably and members were against it. They could not. count, on better weather : in autumn, and they had only two wet shows in twenty years. They -would excuse the. sheep breed-: ers if they did not show at Tim am this year. :

Mr Low-tv said he was not in favour of an autumn show, and moved hismotion solely to permit of rearranging with other societies dates . for the spring- show; '• Mr E, H. Smith said that ought to iiave been'made clear in the . motion. He moved and Mr Bissett seconded, that- the incoming committee be recommended to alter tha next show to a date immediately after. Christchurch. . Mr Rhodes protested, on behalf of "Waimate. : and considered the proposals as ultra vires. .'. Mr Tesehemaker also protested against any alteration of dates. . ';v - Mr Smith satirically reminded tie meeting of the old members' opposition to the change' of showground, and recommended members to put young -men on the committee/ ' The motion when put was carried bv about 15 to 10. ; ; • : / --.; • v".:'
