The imports for the week amount to 13.630 tons, of which 5862 tons are from Australia. The exports amounted to 5585 tons. Copper, spot, £79 15s per ton; three months, £7B. The American visible wheat supplv ia 70.618,000 bushels. Wool.—There is a good sale, raid prices for everything are veiy firm. Received 11.48 p.m., March 15th. MELBOURNE, March 15. The Industries and Commerce Department has received from the High Commissioner a cable message dated" London,
March 14th:—"The wool sales have commenced. There is great competition amongst buyers, and prices have slightly advanced. All grades of merino have risen bv £d, and crossbreds, fine by %d and coarse bv Id per lb." * "
Mr H. H. received the following cable message from the C.C. and D. Company :—Canterbury mutton, 4£d ; Napier, Wellington and North Island, 4£d; lamb, first quality, s£d, second 4|d; beef, hindquarters, 3£d, forequarters 2Jd. Messrs Dalgety and Company, report under date London, March 14th *:—-" Since our last telegram prices of medium and inferior descriptions of tallow are higher by 3d to 6d per cwt: prime mutton tallow is lower by Is per cwt."
