CRICKET.
SOUTHLAND V. OTAGO. Per Press Association DUNEDIN, February 21. The Southland-Otago cricket match was commenced on the Carisbrook Ground this morning on a somewhat soft though rapidly drying wicket. The weather was splendid. Otago won the tbsV and sent the visitors to the wickets. -They put up a score of 59. runs. Kaine., Hamilton and Poole were the only batsmen to get into double figures, the rest of the.team making only a poor stand against the capital bowling of Torrance and, the tricky trundling ; of Graham. Otago responded with 154. their innings lasting nearly two and a half hours, Graham was responsible for' 58 and Wilson for 53.- O'Halloran took four wickets for 70 runs and Doig six wickets for 49. In the second innings Southland has put on 62 for 5 wickets; Crockett 11, Hamilton 30, Kaine (not out) 13.
Owing'to no ground being available for match Civil Service v. Trinity, which was to have b:en played it now' stands postponed -till some future date. The following will play for Tiniaru Juniors against United on Russell Square: Battes, Brooker, Burns, Crerar, Dalgleish,. Gudex, Henderson, Kane, McLeod, Steven-' son, and Wright. Play will commence at 2.15 p.m. The following team will play for Geraldine against Temuka at Temuka on Saturday next:—A. McLean, P. W. Hislop, A. Shisrs, B. R, Macdonald, S. vWilloughby,, A. J.
