The machinery in the Apollo piano player renders that composition 'gei-,-yetly. Plays anything at any time by anybody. It's - combination, of-brains and machinery. Only half the price of similar machines, and is already driving its competitors from, the market. It's named the " Apollo," and is worked by 'a spring motor, the pedals he&sg used solely for the production of loud and -oft effects. The turning over and "bad jf the musie is done automatically. "The Knob for regulating the Tempo produces its effects instantaneously, and to a- marked degree—while the slight pressure of a "featton operates the pedals of the piano. A most useful innovation is the ability b-y the turn of a screw to change the key in which the music is written, and a special feature is the fact that the pieces of music may be hired, as books are from a circuiatiflg library, not necessarily bought. Thus you may have a- repertoire of thousands g£ pieces of music to select from, without purchasing. Exhibitions are given daily at Begg's.—(Advt.) Reports that ebafted out from Westiand conveyed some *ort of indication of the enthusiasm with which Westiand dropped its ordinary -o&aupation and accompanied the Premier in thousands wherever he went •in his recent tour. An incident reported from Nelson sbeds some fresh light on this interesting fact. A case came on at the Magistrate's Court there, having been-ad-journed from January 9th, a West Coast bailiff not having served, the summons.;, A fortnight fiad elapsed, anil".'■ still-."the. summons had not been served. Intending patrons are counselled to secure seats at once at the Dresden. : ; • TECHNICAL CLASSES. The Timaru Technical Classes Association announce to-day that' their plumbing class recommences work this evening. The secretary, Mr -Crawshaw, informs us that already twelve pupils have signified their intention of preparing for the London City and Guilds examination in June next. This will involve ■ steady grafting at their work during lesson hours. The" instructor, 'Mr Kershaw, hopes to be able to prepare a respectable exhibit for the Christchurch exhibition, and remembering what the class did last year in lead work of various kinds, .it needs but a repetition of. it to make a -good 1 collection. It will be seen from the advertisement? that the lessons are of two parts. The first hour each evening' is devoted to the theory of sanitation, the instructor lecturing on some branch of drainage, etc. This section of the work ought to be of use to master and" journeymen builders, and at anyrate it would be worth fheir while to attend a lecture to see if fhat is not the case. The managers will ;meet next. Monday, and a proposal will then "be made for the establishment of ai technical class for builders, dealing with "building construction, architectural drawing, calculation of estimates, etc. The woodwork class previously carried on, for amateurs, if resumed will' be a separate class r from this, It is thought that there are plenty of young men to form, a strong class for the technology of building construction. Last winter less than half a dozen attended -such a class.
