"Henry Mclnaes, a boy aged two years, son of a Mama settler, was playing in a standing crop of oats,',when the reaper caught him severing "one reg, - completely breaking the other, and cutting off one toe. One finger of the left hand was also severed. PORT CHALMERS, January 5. Guard Frederick Logia was shunting at Sawyer's Bay this forenoon when his footslipped on the rail, and a waggon went over his abdomen, inflicting _ internal injuries. He died in the hospital this evening. He was .a son of a former Collector of Customs, and hadi been on the port- its opening 35 years ago. He was 51 years of age, and leaves a widow and family of four. DUNEDIX, January 5. The unidentified body with the throat cut that was found in a creek at Waikari is now supposed to be that of a vagrant well known to the police. The man in question frequented the locality and wore clothing similar to. that found on the body.
