SHIPPING CASUALTIES.
THE LA BELLA INQUIRY. United Press Association— Per Electrio Telegraph-—Copyright. MELBOURNE, November 50. At the La Bella inquiry Captain Mylius, in h'is evidence, said that he was standing in close to signal for a pilot, intending to stand off again, when a big sea struck the vessel, brought her head round, and carried her into the breakers. The second mate, Robertson, deposed that he was called on deck just before the vessel struck. The. La: Bella was going free and did not broach while he was on deckThree seamen gave evidence that the vessel was not struck by a heavy sea, and did not broach. .. Pilot Roe said that if a signal had been made for a -pilot, he would have, gone out. He could have got the La Bella before she struck. ' The enquiry was adjourned. OVERWORKED OFFICERS. SYDNEY", November 30. The Marine Court found that -the wreck of the Wollumbin- was caused by an unexplained leak. No one was blamed, the Court adding that working officers long hours, as shown in the evidence, was a menace to the public.
