THE AUDIT ENQUIRY.
MR FISHER'S CHARGES. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, November 28. Speaking on. the report of the Audit Commission Mr Fisher said he believed at the time he made the charge the men were hopest, and lie believed in their fidelity still. He believed what they saw was a genuine voucher, and he was not prepared to desert them even in face of the Commission's report. He considered the Government had treated these men like dogs. The Premier also alluded to the voucher question. He denounced one candidate as a hypocrite of the first water, and remarked that he had his reasons for saying be would not get the reparation that was his due. The gentleman who ought to grant it was not over modest. A certain application had been made and refused for a. post under the Government. He (the Premier) did not know of this at the time, but he believed now that was the motive underlying the charges.
