On Saturday afternoon Messrs Guinness and LeCren o tiered at , auction, a number ■of "quarter-acre 'sections near, the sports ground, on account of Mr J.. E. Hurdley. One section was sold to Sirs F. Smith 7 at J3Boj thfe remainder being passed. . • * ! '' BESWICK STREET MART. ." : Mr J. B. . Rutland spent a busy day in &is aiiwtion rooms on Saturday. There was a large etitiy of poiiltry whicli sold well; the prices were well maintained. The followeririg are quotations—Hens, 3s, 3s 3d, 3s 6d, 3s 9d to 4s per pair. Roosters, 4s ; 6d, 4s 9d, 5s 3d per pair. Ducks, 4s Sd ' ito 5s .pier' 'pSir. Hens with six chicks/ ss, 5s 6d; -seven chicks fetched 4s 6d. 38 pigs were yarded' and 33 sold; two. at 3s 6d, one at ss, two at 6s, one at 7s, one a,t 7s 9d, two at 8s 6d, three at 9s, one at 9s, 6id, twelve at 10s, two at 12s, three at 12s 9d, three at 13s. Table potatoes brought 25s per sack; broken wheat 10s, damaged whole wheat 10s, Singer sewing machine £8 10s. Furniture and sundries sold as usual. .
TATTERS ALL'S HORSE ; MARKET. . The Canterbury Farmers' Cooperative Association, Limited, report on their horse market at Tattersall's yards on Saturday, as follows : —The , yarding comprised 46 draught and light harness horses. , All young, horses, fit for : present work, -were easily sold at satisfactory-prices, but for aged and stale stock the market was dull ■and/dragging. We quote values as follows Draughts, young (witJh .trial), £42, £42 15s, £43"105, £44,, to £'46; light and aged draughts', £l2, £l2 10s, £l3 J.os to £18; light harness sorts £l3, £l4, £l4 15s, £l6 to £ld. On behalf of Mr H. W. Dipaj the racehorse Carlo was disposed of to Mr John Shaw at a satisfactory figure. CAIN'S TERRACE ROOMS. Mr Moss Jonas reports ae follows : • —The produce market still remains firm .with an ■upward tendency'for potatoes,,a considerable quantity of which I have disposed of during the past week. I also disposed:; of & large parcel of fowl'wheat at full marketvalues, prices of which appear bekyvr. On Saturday at my rooms at noon, I held my usual sale of poultry and produce when* there was a fair-'entry of the former, but not nearly .efficient to supply require-, ments; hence, high prices were realised. Prices were as follows—Ducks 4s to 4s 6d, roosters 4e 3d, 4s 6d to ss, hens 3s 3d, 3s 9d to 4s, all at per pair. Produce, derwent seed potatoes 12s 6d, 13s 6d to 16s ; stable derwents 25s to 27s 6d per bag, "Up-io- Dates 2£d to 3d' per lb, kidneys 2£d per i lb, hams and bacon 6d to 6£d per lb., mangolds Is per bag, whole wheat lis, 11? 6d to 12s, broken 8s 9d to 10s 6d -per bag, cocksfoot 4d to 4£d per lb (sacks Sd ?xtra). At 1.15 I submitted two properties on, account of Mr A. Le. Suer with dwellings thereon. There was a good attendance, but seemingly no buyers, as. both properties were offered', at reasonable terms,but no ofers were made. The auctioneer has now got these properties for, private sale.
