CORRESPONDENCE

WANDERING STOCK. I To the Editor of the "Timaru Herald." Sir, —There is much complaining among those w.ho bought sections on the Westfield Estate near the golf links, over the factthat horses and cattle are allowed to roam about at will. Considerable damage has been done. It seems strange that the Levels County Council cannot infuse a little energy into the ranger (if there be such an official). Considering that these properties are within two miles of the post office there must be considerable las authority to allow such a state of affairs. Horses and cattle are deliberately turned out at night and two days out of every three can be found grazing there in the daytime. I am, etc., LAW AND ORDER.
