FOOTBALL.
THE ASSOCIATION GAME. The annual meeting of the Timaru Association Football Club was held in Mr Izzard's refreshment rooms last night, Mr C. Duncan'presiding. •• ' The secretarv, Mr W. Miller, read the report and balance sheet, the latter showing a credit balance of £4 lis sd, and these were adopted. The first season was considered a fairly successful one for a "first year, with no opposition club ±p brin? out the mettle of members by matches; bet a considerable fillip was given to the Cub and to the Association game by a visit from an Australian team. It was suggested that an attempt should be made to organise an opposition club, and also t that matchesshould, if possible, be arranged with Christchurch next season. The balance sheet of the Australian team's tour was received, this showing a credit balance of £52. Ths"following officers were elected: — Patron, Mayor Crai.gie; president, Mr J. Hole: captain, Mr- S. Gledhill; deputy captain, Mr. A. H. Duncan; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. Millar; general committee, J. Ramsav, W. Budd. A. Horwell. C. Hawkey, and A. Scott. - Mr J. Butler has awarded a trophy for competition. The Club is badly in. need. of a social room, and the -rompiitfee was instructed to inquire re renting "one.. About fifteen.new, membsrs were elected. Hearrr" votes.: of .'lhn.rifcs to the Press for reports," etc., to Mr Izzard for \ use of rooms, and to Mr Macrae for actiwr as referee, and a vote <i£ thanks to the chairman concluded the - meeting. Practice- will be resumed on Thursday nest at 2.30 at the Park, and all members and intending members are requested to attend. -.-.' -. -
