THE GOVERNOR.
THE VICE-REGAL PARTY AT BLENHEIM. Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, Sept. 18. Blenheim was en fete on Saturday when tfie vice-regal party was welcomed and the Marlborough Exhibition was opened. Lord and Lady Plunket and suite arrived from Ugbrooke (where they had been guests of Mr. H. D. Vavasour), at 10 o'clock, and were met at the Railway Station by the Premier and fourteen members nf Parliament, who had arrived from Wellington at an earlier hour, and by the Exhibition Executive, and the Municipal authorities.
A procession was formed, and the visitors conducted to the Market Place, where the municipal address was presented. Lord Plunket opened the exhibition in Seymour square at noon, speeches lieing made by Mr. MeCallum (President of the Industrial Association), the Governor, and the Premier.
Subsequently the visitors were entertained at a- public luncheon, where the Governor and Premier were among the speakers.
The rain had ceased before the commencement of the ceremonies, but although the attendance was large, it was affected by the dull weather. The vice-regal party returned to Ugbrooke at 4 p.m., and the Premier and party left for a short cruise in the Sounds on the Hinemoa.
A large number of visitors have attended the Exhibition, which' is regarded as the largest and most comprehensive of the kind yet held in the colony, outside of the four principal centres.
