LAND SALES. 7 The Canterbury -Farmers' Co-operative Association, Limited, report the following sales of property at satisfactory prices: On account of Mr William Palmer, Wantwood, 370 acres at Rangitata, to Messrs Palmer Bros., of Belfield, and on account 6f Messrs Wilkinson Bros., 209 acres at Orari, to Air Jeremiah Connolly, junr.
ST. ANDREWS STOCK SALE. . There was a fair yarding of sheep and cattle at the St. Andrews yards yesterday, and; a fairly brisk sale took place, sheep selling tip to late rates. Hoggets were in good demand. Three-quarterbred hoggets sold at 14s 6d, 15s, 15s 6d, 16s to 16s lOd; half-bred hoggets 12s 3d, 15s 6d; aged ewes in lamb, 18s ; three-quarterbred ewes in lamb, 235; fat wethers ' 21s. Cattle sold at about late rates.
THE HOME MARKETS. • Messrs Dalgety and Co. report 'under date, London, September 15th:—" Frozen mutton prices are firm. We quote prime Canterbury lamb sfd per lb. Prices of New Zealand frozen beef, hindquarters, are lower by id per lb since our last telegram ; the demand is limited owing to low prices of River Plate frozen beef. At the Antwerp wool sales, as compared with the average rates of the last sale's" there, prices of merino wools are at par to id per lb higher; crossbred 1 wools are firm." THE GRAIN MARKETS.
Business during the past week has been of a limited nature. In a few instances growers have given way in their ideas of value. With the better news from foreign markets cabled yesterday a little enquiry has been caused, though buyers will not operate beyond 3s 6d f.o.b. for prime lines, of Tuscan and Velvet, and 3s 4d to 3s 5d for red chaff. Fowl wheat is at 3s f.0.b., seconds 2s 6d : to 2s 9d. For oats' the enquiry has gone off, and values are ieasier : Danish Is 4d'; blight Gartens Is 7d, B grade Gartons Is 5d to Is 6d, on trucks,' Timaru. Potatoes are a glut on the market, and there is no business doing.
HORSE SALE AT STUDHOLME. The Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, per Mr J. Mundell, auctioneer, report holding a sale of horses at Studholme' Junction yesterday. The entry consisted of 25 draught, light harness and hackney horses, and included some exceptionally good draught mares and geldings which sold readily at full market values. Aged atid stale draught horses, however, ■were almost unsaleable- About half th& entry changed hands at the following prices :—Draughts, young, with trials, £34 10s, £36, £AI, £4B 10s; ditto, light and aged, £27 to £34 10s ; light harness horses, £lO 10s to £l3 10s ; ac;ed and stale draught horses £lO to £lO 10s.
