THE INTERCOLONIAL TOURNEY. „ WINS FOR THE NEW ZEALANDERS. Received 9.46 p.m., September 16th. SYDNEY, September 16. The tennis tournament opened in fine weather with a light breeze.. The chief interest centred in the match, between Parker arid' Peacock and Gaden and Rice. The New Zealitnders proved too much for their opponents, the games resulting 5-7, 6-3, 6-2. Cox and Swanston (New Zealand) beat Sharp and Rice (New South Wales), 8-6, 5-7, 8-6. Parker and Peacock beat Donst and Pockley, 6-0, 4-6, 6-4. Gaden and Rice beat Laishley and Gore (New Zealand), 7-5, 6-3. Wright and Sharp beat Laishley and Gore, 6-3, 6-1.
In the singles, Cox played an excellentgame against- Donst, beating him, 6-3, 6-4: whilst Swanston, after an exciting match, beat Pockley, 7-4, 6-2, 7-5.
