FIRES.

KEROSENE STORES DESTROYED. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. Septembebr 10. The fire which broke out in the kerosene stores, on the outskirts of the city, last night, destroyed the stores of the Colonial Oil Company and Kempthorne, Prosser and Co.'s and Johnston and Co.'s buildings were partiallv ruined. The outbreak occurred in Kempthorne, Prosser and Co.'s, which was between the other two stores, and all three were a mass of flames when the brigade arrived, The Colonial Oil Company had in stock some 8000 cases of kerosene, benzine, etc., and suffers a total loss, neither stock nor buildings being insured. Messrs W. and G. Turnbull and Co. are the Company's local agents. Messrs Kempthorne, Prosser and Co. were insured for £3200, made up as follows : Stock in bulk and store—Alliance office, £1750; Royal Exchange, £900; Standard, £250. Building—Exchange office, £100; dangerous goods store stock, £125; building, £75, both in the Liverpool and London and Globe. Johnston and Co.'s premises and stock, the latter consisting mainly* of hard goods, which were only partly destroyed, were insured for £4700 in the London and Lancashire office, £2OO of the amount being on the building. The loss will not be known until the stock sheets are examined, and the loss above the insurance also is not known.

WANGANUI, Septembe lrl. The old Wesleyan Church at Aramoho was burned down this morning. The insurances are not obtainable.
