SHOOTING.
MACKENZIE MOUNTED RIFLES. As the weather cleared on Thursday afternoon, the third stage of the McLean Cup firing was taken. Eighteen men fired. Besides the cup competition, handicaps were added to the scores for trophies, and the usual range prizes were fiven. The ranges were 600 and 700. he light was dull, but clear', but the wind' from north-west, blowing from the left and left rear, was .very strong and gusty. Second-class targets were used, match scoring, no sighter. As this is a service match it was shot in uniform, and the rifle had to be used as issued. The best scores are as under:
Aa only a certain number of parades count, it is still possible for those behind in points for parades to pull np their leeway. The last match will be fired in Janiiarv. A dismounted parade of the squadron was held in the evening, when there was » fair muster, and foot drill and musketry was gone through under Sergeant-Major Talbot. Lieutenants Banks and Burn were present,,- The Foyers competition, between fours', will, be taken on the next three Thursdays, a practice being held next Thursday. As the five non-coms, have each got their squads in hand, a good competition should ensue.
