The only business of note in the betting was .the backing of Grand Rapids for the Epsom Handicap at 6 to 1, and he is now a strong favourite. Famous has receded tov 8 to 1. The tipsters fancy Koopan for the Derby, and St. Simmer, Chere Amie, and Grand Rapids for "the Epsom Handicap. The " Daily Telegraph" tips Grand Rapids, Chere Amie, and St. Simmer.

- SYDNBK" TRAINING NOTES. SYDNEY, September 9. Nightfall was not of much use to Grand Rapids in a seven-furlong spin, done in lmin 32sec. Martian put up a very fine gallop with Cruciform, and appeared to have' the best of the argument. They ran nice furlongs in the excellent time of 2min lsec. Famous registered a grand gallop of seven furlongs in lmin 31isec. THE NAPIER MEETING. Per Press Association. NAPIER, September 9.
